Crash Victim Dies in Hospital after Car Accident in Jefferson County

Sept. 1, 2010 - Jefferson County, W. Va. - One man was killed after an accident in Jefferson County on Monday night.

The Herald-Mail reports that the accident happened at around 10:45 p.m. near Cary Lu Circle. A Ford Taurus station wagon crashed into a tree stump at the intersection of Halltown Road and U.S. 340.

According to West Virginia State police, one person was in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Walter Kuhn Jr., 65, of Harpers Ferry, was transported to Jefferson Memorial Hospital immediately following the accident. Kuhn later died in the hospital.

The cause of the crash has not yet been released to the public.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2008 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 380 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
