Car Crashes into Restaurant after 2-Car Collision in Huntington

November 25, 2010 - Huntington, W.Va. - Two cars collided on the afternoon of Nov. 18, sending a car into a restaurant and 4 people to the hospital.

WSAZ reports that the crash occurred just after 4 p.m. on Washington Avenue at the West 17^th Street Bridge in Huntington. According to witnesses on the scene, a vehicle was exiting off of the bridge ramp when it pulled in front of a second vehicle on Washington Avenue.

The second vehicle crashed into the rear of the first. One of the vehicles then crashed into the side of a Hardee's restaurant, partially entering the dining room.

Four people were transported to the hospital immediately following the accident. The medical conditions of these people are unknown this time. The identities of those involved in the accident have also not yet been released.

The manager of the Hardee's stated that there were no people in the dining room at the time of the accident. The manager went on to say that, though the building has been considerably damaged, the restaurant will stay open.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
