Boy Suffers Head Injuries after Dirt Bike Accident in Kanawha County

July 19, 2010 - Kanawha County - A teenage boy has suffered head injuries following a dirt biking accident in northern Kanawha County.

The Charleston Daily Mail reports that Kanawha Metro 911 dispatchers received a call about a boy down on a dirt bike near Remer Road in the Falling Rock area between Elkview and Clendenin. This call was received at 1:44 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.

The teen dirt bike accident victim was transported by ambulance to Charleston Area Medical Center's General Hospital. HealthNet was originally called to transport the boy, but foul weather grounded all helicopters in the area; just after 2 p.m. a downpour soaked the entire county.

The seriousness of the boy's injuries is unknown at this point. Investigating deputies from the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department could not say whether or not the boy was wearing a helmet at the time of the dirt bike accident.
