Black Ice Blamed for Injury Accident in Huntington on Norway Avenue

March 3, 2011 - Huntington, W.Va. - Three people were taken to the hospital following a potentially weather-related accident Wednesday morning.

WSAZ reports that the accident occurred shortly after 7 a.m. on Norway Avenue near Stanford Park in Huntington. A van was driving on the roadway when, according to the driver of the van, it struck a patch of black ice and slid into a TTA bus.

According to Huntington Police, the driver of the van and one of her passengers were injured in the crash. Both were transported a local hospital for treatment. Their injuries are said to be minor.

The driver of the bus was also taken to the hospital, though only as a precautionary measure.

Several passengers were on the bus at the time of the accident. None of the passengers were injured in the crash.

City crews were on the scene shortly after the crash in order to salt the roadway.

Police say multiple crashes related to black ice were reported Wednesday morning in Huntington.
