Bicyclist Hospitalized After Harrison County Bike Accident on Route 76

September 15, 2010 - Harrison County, W.Va. - One person was sent to the hospital after a bike accident on
Route 76 on Monday night.

WDTV reports that the accident happened shortly before 7:30 p.m. Monday close to the Harrison and Taylor County line. The bicyclist was riding along the roadway when they were struck by a motor vehicle.

The bicyclist had to be transported to United Hospital Center via ambulance. The victim was suffering back and leg pain on the scene, however, their current medical condition is unknown. Emergency personnel believe the bicyclist's injuries are non-life-threatening.

The Route 76 bike accident remains under investigation.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2008 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 380 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
