At Least 4 Injured in 3-Car Crash in Putnam County on I-64

September 28, 2010 - Putnam County, W. Va. - At least 4 people were injured in a 3-car accident late Saturday evening.

WBOY reports that the accident happened shortly after 11:15 p.m. Saturday on Interstate 64 in Teays Valley, in Putnam County. Three vehicles collided on the on I-64. Further details concerning the nature and cause of the crash have not yet been revealed.

Dispatchers stated that at least 4 people had to be taken to the hospital immediately after the car accident. The medical condition of those people is unknown at this time.

The accident caused police to close all lanes of traffic, both eastbound and westbound, on I-64 for some time.

The I-64 crash remains under investigation by the West Virginia State Police.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2008 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 380 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
