At Least 1 Victim Injured in Two-Vehicle Wreck on I-64 in Huntington

October 21, 2010 - Huntington, W.Va. - At least 1 person was taken to the hospital following a two-vehicle collision Tuesday night.

WBOY reports that the crash occurred at around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday on Interstate 64 in Huntington. Two vehicles collided on the interstate, between the 29^th Street exit and the Fifth Street exit. Dispatchers have stated that the two cars involved were a white Toyota Camry and a Black Pontiac Sunfire.

At least one person had to be taken to the hospital immediately following the accident. The medical condition of this person is unknown at this time.

The names and ages of those involved in the I-64 accident have not yet been released.

Both of the westbound lanes on I-64 were closed for some time on Tuesday evening to allow for investigation and clean-up.

At this time, there is no word on the cause of the accident. The crash is under continued investigation.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2008 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 380 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
