7 Children, 1 Adult Injured When 2 School Buses & Car Collide in Wayne County

November 18, 2010 - Wayne County, W.Va. - Eight people, including 7 children, were taken to the hospital following an accident that involved 2 school buses and a passenger car.

WSAZ reports that the accident happened at around 3:15 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12, on Route 152 by Wayne High School. A woman was driving her passenger vehicle when she stopped to take a left turn onto Maple Heights.

When she stopped, a school bus collided with the woman's car from behind. A second school bus then crashed into the rear of the first bus.

The woman and her young child passenger were both transported to a local hospital. Six students that were on the buses at the time of the school bus accident were also transported to the hospital. None of those injured are thought to be in serious condition.

The identities of those involved in the school bus accident are yet to be released.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
