3 People Hospitalized After 2 Cars, Motorcycle Collide on Route 19

October 14, 2010 - Spelter, W.Va. - Three people were sent to the hospital following a multi-car/motorcycle collision in Spelter.

WDTV reports that the accident occurred just before 6 p.m. Wednesday on Route 19, close to the drive-in theater. According to police, the accident occurred when the driver of a southbound Toyota Scion attempted to make a turn into a driveway and was struck from behind by a Chrysler Sebring.

The force of the impact pushed the Scion into the northbound lane and into the path of a Harley Davidson motorcycle, causing a crash between the motorcycle and passenger vehicle.

The motorcyclist was taken to United Hospital Center, as were two of the people riding in the Scion. The identities and ages of those involved in the car and motorcycle accident are yet to be released.

At this time, there is no information about the condition of any of the accident victims. The Route 19 accident remains under investigation by State Police.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2008 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 380 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
