3 Injured When Vehicle Overturns Near Cross Lanes on I-64

December 24, 2010 - Kanawha County, W.Va. - Three people were transported to the hospital Thursday following a rollover accident near Cross Lanes.

WSAZ reports that the accident happened on Interstate 64 near the 47 mile marker, close to Cross Lanes. Three people were in a vehicle that overturned on I-64. All three were ejected from the vehicle as it rolled.

The three people, two men and one woman, incurred injuries in the crash. They were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The medical conditions of these people are unknown at this time.

The identities of those involved in the accident are yet to be released.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident and there were no further injuries.

The westbound slow lane on I-64 was closed for some time following the accident. All westbound lanes near mile marker 47 were reopened as of Thursday evening.

The rollover accident is under ongoing investigation.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
