3 Injured When Ambulance Crashes into Car on Midland Trail in Hurricane

March 9, 2011 - Hurricane, W.Va. - An accident involving an ambulance sent three people to the hospital late Monday night.

WSAZ reports that the accident occurred at about 9:30 p.m. Monday on Midland Trail (Route 34) in Putnam County. According to Putnam County 911 dispatchers, the ambulance collided with a car on the roadway.

Three people were injured in the accident. The injured people were taken to an area hospital immediately following the crash. The medical conditions of those people are unknown at this time.

It is unclear whether members of the EMS crew were among those injured in the crash. The identities of the injured people have not yet been released.

The ambulance was en route to a call at the time of the accident, so the emergency vehicle was not carrying any patients when it crashed.

The cause of the accident remains to be determined. The accident is under ongoing investigation.
