3 Injured in West Virginia Turnpike Accident in Beckley

February 24, 2011 - Beckley, W.Va. - Several cars were involved in a West Virginia Turnpike accident in Beckley that sent 3 people to the hospital Wednesday afternoon.

WBOY reports that the accident occurred on Interstate 77 near Harper Road in Beckley. Multiple cars crashed in the northbound lane of the Turnpike. Further details about how the crash occurred are not available at this time.

According to Raleigh County Dispatchers, 3 people were injured in the crash. The 3 people were transported to local hospitals immediately following the West Virginia Turnpike accident. The medical conditions of the injured people are unknown at this time.

The identities of the injured people and anyone else who may have been involved in the accident have not yet been released.

The affected lanes were blocked to traffic for about 40 minutes after the accident while emergency crews worked to clear the scene.

The cause of the accident remains to be determined. The accident is under ongoing investigation.
