3 Hospitalized After Head-On Collision on Route 151

July 22, 2010 - Buckhannon, W. Va. - Three people have been hospitalized after an accident on Route 151 near Buckhannon.

 

WBOY reports that the car accident happened at about 9 a.m. Wednesday in Upshur County. The car accident was a head-on collision involving a Chevy S-10 and a Chevy Silverado.

 

Dale Williams, 34, of Ellamore, was driving his Chevy S-10 westbound when a green sedan pulled out in front of him, off of Childers Run Road. Williams swerved to avoid the sedan and struck the eastbound Chevy Silverado head-on.

 

Williams and his passenger, David Norman, 57, of Ellamore, suffered serious injuries in the Route 151 crash. They were transported to St. Joseph's Hospital for treatment and Norman was later taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital. The driver of the Silverado, Dwayne Dean, 67, of Buckhannon, was also hospitalized.

 

Professionals from the Buckhannon Fire Department, Upshur County EMS, and the Upshur County Sheriff's Department responded to the accident. Sheriff Virgil Miller of Upshur County stated that authorities are still looking for the green sedan.

 

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2008 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 380 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
