2 State Employees Killed in Van Crash on Route 50 in Doddridge County

November 2, 2010 - Doddridge County, W.Va. - Two people have died following a collision in Doddridge County Monday morning.

WDTV reports that the crash occurred at about 10 a.m. Monday on Route 50 West in Doddridge County. The crash occurred when a Dodge van merged onto Route 50 Westbound from Route 18 and collided with a rock truck. A third vehicle was also involved in the collision.

Two occupants in the van at the time of the accident-1 male and 1 female-were both killed in the crash. Both occupants were said to be employees of the State, specifically the West Virginia Division of Corrections. They were headed to a work-related training session at the time of the fatal accident.

The drivers of the other two vehicles involved in the crash were also injured. These people were transported to United Hospital Center. The medical conditions of the drivers are unknown at this time.

The Route 50 accident is under ongoing investigation. Investigations are being handled by State Police.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2008 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 380 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
