2 People Injured After 2 Cars Collide With School Bus in Kanawha County

October 15, 2010 - Charleston, W.Va. - Two people were sent to the hospital Wednesday following an accident involving two cars and a school bus in Pinch.

The Charleston Gazette reports that the school bus accident happened at about 3:15 p.m. Wednesday on Reunion Road in Pinch, when two passenger vehicles crashed into a Kanawha County school bus on the roadway. Details concerning the cause of the collision are not readily available at this time.

The bus was carrying children at the time of the accident. However, a Kanawha County Metro 911 dispatcher said that none of the children received injuries in the collision.

Two occupants of the smaller vehicles were injured in the crash and they were transported to a local hospital immediately following the school bus accident. Kanawha County dispatchers were unable to elaborate on the extent of the injuries suffered by the accident victims. No victim names have yet been provided.

Parts of Reunion Road were closed to traffic as emergency crews responded to the crash and investigated the incident.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2008 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 380 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
