2 Injured When Thrown From Car Crash in Mercer County

January 24, 2011 - Princeton, W.Va. - Two people had to be taken to the hospital early Saturday morning following a car accident in Mercer County.

WBOY reports that the accident happened at about 2 a.m. Monday in the area of Route 460 in Princeton, roughly 2 ½ miles from Wal-Mart. The vehicle was travelling eastbound when it crashed.

Two people were thrown from the vehicle during the accident. Both people were taken to a local hospital immediately following the crash. The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time.

The identity of either injured person has not yet been released.

Officials from the Mercer County Emergency Services stated that the incident was initially reported as involving a disoriented person. It was not discovered until later that the actual emergency was a car accident.

The cause of the car accident remains to be determined. The accident is under ongoing investigation.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
