2 Hospitalized After Head-On Collision on Route 20 in Upshur County

March 3, 2011 - Upshur County, W.Va. - An accident in Upshur County sent two people to the hospital Tuesday, one with serious injuries.

WDTV reports that the accident happened at about 4:45 p.m. Tuesday on Route 20 South in Rock Cave, in Upshur County. According to fire officials, a minivan and an SUV were involved in a head-on collision on the roadway.

The drivers of both vehicles were injured in the head-on collision on Route 20. The female driver of the SUV had to be flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital via Healthnet immediately following the accident. The woman's medical condition is unknown at this time.

The male driver of the minivan was taken to Saint Joseph's Hospital by ambulance. Authorities said his injuries were not life-threatening.

The identities of the injured people have not yet been released.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident and there were no further injuries.

The cause of the accident remains to be determined. The accident is under ongoing investigation.
