2 Hospitalized after Car Accident in Brooke County

July 28, 2010 - Brooke County, W. Va. - A car accident in Brooke County sent a teenager to Children's Hospital in Pittsburg by air lift.

WBOY reports that the accident occurred early Monday evening on Washington Pike. The accident was a head on collision.

According to Brooke County Sheriff Richard Ferguson, the teenager's vehicle crossed over the center line near the Nazarine Church on Washington Pike. It then crashed into an oncoming vehicle head on.

The 16-year-old victim, who is from Hooverson Heights, was airlifted to Children's Hospital in Pittsburg immediately following the accident. Other passengers in the vehicle, the teen's mother and brother, were not injured.

The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash has been transported to Weirton Hospital. At this time, the conditions of both the teenager and the other injured driver are unknown.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2008 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 380 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
