2 Adults, 1 Toddler Injured in Possible DUI Crash in MacArthur on Dayton Street

March 1, 2011 - MacArthur, W.Va. - An accident sent two adults and a toddler to the hospital Saturday. Police have said that alcohol may have been a factor.

WBOY reports that the possible DUI crash occurred on Dayton Street in MacArthur, in Raleigh County. A pickup truck was travelling on the roadway when its driver lost control of the vehicle and it collided with a second vehicle.

The truck sideswiped a utility pole before it went off the roadway, where it struck a tree head on. The truck then flipped and finally came to a stop.

The two occupants of the second vehicle, Joseph Morgan, 46, and his 3-year-old son were injured in the crash. Joseph Morgan was treated for accident injuries and has since been released.

The toddler was first taken to Raleigh General Hospital, but had to be transferred to Charleston Area Medical Center. Officials say the toddler was in critical but stable condition as of Monday morning.

The driver of the truck, Deidre Vanessa Snead, 29, of Sophia, was also injured in the accident. She was taken to Raleigh General Hospital, where she was reported to be in stable condition as of Monday morning.

Speed and alcohol could have been primary factors in the accident. Charges regarding the accident are pending.
