1 Killed in Fatal Car Accident in Putnam County

August 13, 2010 - Scott Depot, W. Va. - One person was killed and another was injured following a crash on Thursday night.

WBOY reports that accident happened at around 6 p.m. Thursday when a car went into a creek at the Timber Lake Estates. According to witnesses on the scene, the car swerved before the crash.

Dispatchers stated that the vehicle was carrying two people at the time of the crash. One of those people was pronounced dead at the scene. The second person was flown to an area hospital via HealthNet.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2008 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 380 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
