1 Killed in Coal Truck and Car Collision in Hancock County on Route 30

December 2, 2010 - Chester, W.Va. - One person was killed Wednesday in an accident involving a coal truck and a passenger vehicle.

WBOY reports that the accident happened on Route 30 near the Route 8 split in Hancock County. A coal truck and the smaller passenger car collided on the roadway.

Authorities are releasing very few details concerning how the accident occurred, at this time. Officials stated that the cause of the accident was weather related. Witnesses on the scene said the fatal truck and car accident was violent enough to rip the car's engine from the vehicle.

According to a dispatcher, one person was killed in the accident. That person was pronounced dead on the scene. The identity of the victim is yet to be released.

No other vehicles were involved in the fatal Route 30 accident and there were no further injuries.

The accident remains under investigation by the Hancock Sheriff's Department.
