1 Injured in 3-Vehicle Crash in Kanawha County

September 13, 2010 - Charleston, W.Va. - A three-car accident in Kanawha County sent one car sliding over a hill and caused one person to be taken to the hospital for emergency treatment.

The Charleston Gazette reports that the crash occurred at around 7:30 a.m. on Friday at the intersection of Corridor G and Sand Plant Road, close to Alum Creek. Three cars collided with one another in the northbound lanes of the Corridor.

One vehicle was pushed over the edge of the roadway and down a hill on impact. A passenger in the vehicle was trapped within. Firefighters from both the Davis Creek and Alum Creek fire departments were required to extricate the person from the car.

C.W. Sigman, the Kanawha County Fire Coordinator, stated that the person was transported to a local hospital. The details of this person's injuries and current medical condition have not yet been released.

The crash also blocked and slowed traffic for a large part of Friday morning.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2008 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 380 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
