1 Injured in 2-Car Collision in Bridgeport on Route 50

August 3, 2010 - Bridgeport, W. Va. - Two cars collided Sunday afternoon in an accident on Route 50.

WDTV reports that the accident happened at around 3:30 p.m., when two cars crashed into each other at the intersection of Emily Drive and Route 50. One or both of the vehicles was reportedly attempting to turn at the intersection.

Three people were able to walk away from the wreck unscathed, but one had to be transported to UHC. The injured victim was reportedly suffering from neck pain, minor cuts and bruises.

The accident backed up traffic for about 45 minutes before officials could clear up the scene. Bridgeport Police are investigating the Route 50 accident.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2008 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 380 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
