1 Hospitalized After Semi-Truck Accident in Putnam County on Route 35

August 12, 2010 - Winfield. W. Va. - Two semi-trucks crashed into one another late Tuesday night, sending one driver to the hospital.

WBOY reports that the truck accident happened just before midnight on Tuesday. One semi-truck was making a turn into a parking lot when another tractor-trailer struck the vehicle from behind. The crash occurred on U.S. Route 35 in Putnam County.

One of the drivers was transported by helicopter to Charleston Area Medical Center immediately following the truck accident. As of Wednesday morning, one man was still in the hospital where he is reportedly in critical condition. The other driver has been released. The identity of either driver is unknown as of yet.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2008 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 380 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
