1 Dead in ATV and Tractor Trailer Collision on Route 52 in Bluewell

November 30, 2010 - Bluewell, W.Va. - One person was killed in an accident involving a tractor trailer and an ATV Monday afternoon.

WBOY reports that the crash occurred at 1:22 p.m. Monday on Route 52 in Bluewell. An all-terrain vehicle (ATV) and a tractor trailer truck collided on the roadway.

According to deputies on the scene, one person was transported to Bluefield Regional Medical Center. That person was pronounced dead in the hospital.

The name, age or gender of the victim is yet to be released.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident. There were no further injuries.

The road was closed for some time following the fatal ATV accident. Officials from the Mercer County Sheriff's Department stated that the accident was cleared and the road was reopened by 3 p.m. Monday.

No further information regarding the accident or how it occurred is available at this time. The accident is under continued investigation.
